VL108 DP Alt-mode & 3-port USB PD 3.1 Controller

Description

VIA Lab's VL108 is a highly integrated USB PD 3.1 and DP Alt-mode controller featuring support for the new Extended Power Range (EPR) charging capabilities that extends USB Power Delivery's maximum capacity from 100W to 240W. VL108 is intended for USB-C peripherals and has been optimized for use in USB-C multi-function docks with charge-through capability.
 
With the integrated USB-C charging UFP, VL108 can enable video output from a host system using DP Alt-mode or USB4 DP Tunneling mode while simultaneously providing power to the host if suitable external power is available. VL108 also features two integrated USB-C DRP DFPs that can connect to a USB-C power adapter for charging functionality, a USB-C device for data transfers, etc. Either DFP port can also provide power for charging a host system on a first-plugin-first-served basis. All ports support the PD3.1 EPR specification, enabling up to 48V at 5A (240W). VL108 has an innovative auto-standby feature that automatically enters power-saving mode when the interface is idle.
 
With a built-in trimmed RC oscillator, linear voltage regulators, and Vbus voltage and current detectors, VL108 can be powered from Vbus while also monitoring for abnormal power behavior. VL108 supports up to 17 GPIO pins and is available in QFN 60L (7x7x0.85 mm) in the two DFP configuration and QFN 48L (6x6x0.85 mm) with one DFP.
